The Doylestown branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) was started over 60 years ago and now has over 70 members. AAUW is a national organization whose mission is the advancement of equity for women and girls. The Doylestown Branch offers various programs throughout the year providing opportunities to socialize with like-minded women, dive into interesting topics, and provide scholarships to students pursuing a college education. There are groups that meet around common interests including book groups, a mahjong group, an advocacy group, and a movie group. The next branch meeting will be on Wednesday, September 17, 5:30 to 7pm at Del Val University in the Life Sciences Building. The topic of this program will be paid family and medical leave in Pennsylvania. Dan O’Brien from the PA Family Care Coalition and Sara Jann Heinze from Maternity Care Coalition, will address questions about how the Family Care Act will work.
