The Washington Crossing Chapter of the Pennsylvania Society, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), proudly presented a Flag Recognition Certificate to Warwick Township Fire Company No. 1 in honor of its exemplary and consistent display of the American flag.

The presentation highlighted the SAR’s mission to preserve American history and promote respect for the nation’s founding principles and symbols. As the United States approaches the 250th anniversary of its independence, the ceremony served as a reminder that the American flag represents the enduring ideals of liberty, sacrifice, and unity first secured in 1776.

Warwick Township Fire Company No. 1, established in 1958, was recognized not only for its patriotic display of the flag but also for its longstanding service to the community. As first responders, the members embody a tradition of duty and commitment that reflects the spirit of the nation’s founders.

“The proper and consistent display of our flag reflects a deep respect for the principles of American freedom and for all who have defended them,” said Michael Shaffer, secretary of the Washington Crossing Chapter, who delivered remarks during the ceremony.

The SAR also expressed appreciation for the Fire Company’s role in preserving and protecting the historic Bucks County community, home to significant Revolutionary War heritage.

Accepting the award on behalf of the Fire Company were firefighter and president of the Relief Association Ryan Butrica and firefighter Carl Weiss. The certificate was presented by Michael Borish, First Vice President of the Washington Crossing Chapter. Also in attendance representing the Fire Department administration was Judy Berry.

The Washington Crossing Chapter continues its efforts to educate the public about local Revolutionary War history and to recognize individuals and organizations that uphold the values of American citizenship and patriotism during the 250th Anniversary of American Independence.
